My Favorite foods from Australia

foods from Australia

Although Oakford Gourmet Selections is a Utah charcuterie board caterer, my roots are from Australia. Australia is such a melting pot of cultures and because of that, a melting pot of cuisines. I appreciate all the different tastes, colors, and flavors from foods all around the world, and I love bringing some of those different experiences to every one of the grazing boards and grazing tables that we make.

It's been over two years since I've been to land down under (thanks COVID!), but this past month, I was able to finally go and see family and friends and eat my favorite Australian foods that I've missed so much! Here are my five favorite foods to include on a grazing board from down under.

my 5 favorite foods FROM AUSTRALIA to include on a grazing board

foods from Australia

1. passionfruit

Passionfruit is easily grown in many Australian backyards. Not only is it a delicious taste of the tropics, but it pairs well with Brie & aged cheddars. And as a bonus, it is loaded with heart-healthy potassium. Not only does this incredible product look impressive, it just melts in your mouth and gives an added interest to your board with its distinct color.

2. Baby bell peppers stuffed with mascarpone

Baby bell peppers stuffed with mascarpone are found in almost every Australian supermarket deli section. Not only do they have a fantastic look with their color and shape, but they are also delicious too. The mini peppers are sweeter than the larger version and the red varieties are particularly high in antioxidants.

australian cheese

3. King Island triple cream Brie

King Island Triple Cream Brie is easily my favorite Brie ever. It’s a luxuriously rich and buttery soft white cheese with the aroma of sweet jersey cream. And paired with fresh berries, figs or honey, it makes the perfect bite.

4. Olinas Artisan Crackers

These crackers are loaded with natural fruits and seeds to create a delicious partner for all cheeses. Varieties include Cranberry & Pumpkin Seed and Fig & Sunflower Seed. And, as a bonus, they offer a great gluten-free line.

5. WAGYU BEEF

Thinly sliced cured Wagyu beef is the ultimate decadent food to add to any board, not only does it just melt in your mouth, but it also offers a different flavor profile and color to lift your grazing board to the next level.

Have you ever been to Australia? If so, what are some of the favorite foods you ate?
